Lock 15 Brewing Co. on the Summit Brew Path
At a Christmas party in 2010, owners and cousins Colin Cook and Joe Karpinski celebrated with their family over the latest batch of Christmas Ale homebrewed by Joe. “One taste of that beer and I knew Joe would be brewing beer on a much larger scale, and I wanted to make sure it was with me!” The cousins bring the latest food and beverage trends to their hometown at Lock 15 Brewing Co., located in a former tire factory on the Towpath Trail of the Ohio & Erie Canal. Here you’ll find year-round, seasonal and experiment beers, raised beds that provide as much produce for the restaurant as possible and unmatched atmosphere and experience.
Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. on the Summit Brew Path
This stop along the Summit Brew Path features meticulously hand crafted, small batch beers using the finest ingredients. Enjoy carefully selected ingredients, along with specially designed recipes and brewing processes that give Thirsty Dog beers unique flavor profiles that are hard to find in today’s mass-market. Enthusiasts can get a closer look during Saturday tours!
Akronym Brewing on the Summit Brew Path
Started by grade school friends with a passion for home brewing, Akronym Brewing received the 2018 Ohio Craft Brewers Cup - Best Northeast Ohio Brewery award. Connecting with the local Akron community is a guiding philosophy of this stop on the Summit Brew Path, and guided Akronym's decision to be part of the redevelopment of downtown Akron.
Akron Art Museum
The Akron Art Museum presents and collects regional, national and international art created since 1850. Areas of strength include: contemporary painting and sculpture and photography. Its steel, concrete and glass addition (which tripled the size of the facility) sits adjacent to and in juxtaposition of the original circa 1899 brick building and a one acre outdoor garden.
Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens
Akron’s first and largest National Historic Landmark, and also the nation’s 6th largest historic home open to the public. Stan Hywet Hall is one of the finest examples of the American Country Estate movement, which flourished during the Industrial Age. The Estate includes five historic buildings and ten historic gardens on 70 acres. The collections and furnishings in the Manor House are all original to the Estate.
